We are honoured to boast Mrs. Fatema as one of our Top of Her Game Gamechangers. As one of the most distinguished women leaders in Bahrain – her life story was documented in a documentary program called “Pioneers” that was broadcasted on Bahrain National TV channel in 2008.
A true Gamechanger
Mrs. Fatema is currently the Assistant Undersecretary for Human Resources and Services at Ministry of Health in Kingdom of Bahrain.
She is the first woman in the Ministry of Health to be appointed in Director position for Human resources, & Assistant Undersecretary for Human Resources, positions traditionally always occupied by men.
She is the first nurse in the History of Bahrain to be appointed in Assistant Undersecretary Position and the first Bahraini Nurse to be appointed as Nursing Advisor for Minister of Health in the region. Her strategic role made her instrumental in the development, implementation and evaluation of national strategic directions for health.
Over her 30 year career she has successfully led planning and implementing many Ministerial Projects and prepared Bahrain’s Plan for Human Resources for Health 2020. In addition, she has clearly empowered and supported women at the Ministry, her efforts resulted in having women in 50% of senior management positions and 70% of middle management positions.
In recognition of her distinguished professional achievements and contributions, she has received several awards and Medals at national and international levels:
- In 2015 she received The International Alliance for Women World of Difference Award in Public Sector in Washington DC.
- In 2009 she received honorary award from her Majesty the First Lady of Bahrain the President of the Supreme Council for Women Queen Sabika bint Ibrahim AL.Khalifa in recognition of her professional achievements & leadership in health care and as a role model for Bahraini women.
- In December 2012 she received the Royal Medal for Outstanding Competency from His Majesty the King of Bahrain King Hamad Bin Isa AL.Kahlifa.
- In 1998 she received the GCC Rufida Nursing Award for being one of Best Nurses in the Region.
